Explosion Investigations

The purpose of an accident investigation is to take action to prevent accidents from recurring. During the last 20 years GexCon (through CMR) has solved many mysteries surrounding explosions under assignments for industry, legal proceedings and local/national authorities.

It is very important to find causes of small explosion accidents in order to prevent larger incidents from occurring. There are several examples of companies that have gone bankrupt as a consequence of the physical damage and the resulting loss of production after a major explosion.

In order to find the cause of an explosion it is important to get to the scene of the explosion as soon as possible after it has occurred. By going through the debris after an incident we can often find traces of what caused the explosion. These traces often disappear quickly during the clearance work.

Civil Contingency and Emergency Planning

Analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamic modeling to predict near and far field blast effects on buildings, occupied areas, allowing consequence evaluation for building construction, key infrastructure and business continuity.

Terrorist blast effects and toxic gas cloud dispersions are simulated and their results are used to determine the additional requirement for mitigation, security and emergency planning.

Virtual reality will soon become available for all simulations allowing the stakeholder to experience the scenario as if from inside the real live situation, this will be useful for training and to evaluate additional considerations to be made. (Watch the video)
